PRESENTATIONS

School & Group Presentations

Presentations are available for students of all ages, from Pre-school through adult. Each presentation is catered to the students’ learning level and can be tailored to meet the needs & requests of each group.

 

*Due to COVID we are happy to offer our presentations virtually!

  • Pre-filmed: You will receive a pre-recorded presentation of your choice and worksheets will be sent through email.
  • Virtual guest: You can choose one of our presentations to have our Education Coordinator present to your class! Includes a special guest appearance from a shelter pet and worksheets

 

We offer the following presentations:

  • How to Care for Pets (k-2) – Abstract: In this lesson students are introduced to concepts like empathy and caring for others by learning the similar basic needs of both humans and animals. The book Are you Ready for Me by Claire Buchwald is also read. Overall themes: empathy, how to care for pets. Worksheets provided.
  • Empathy for Animals (3-5) – Abstract: In this lesson students are introduced to and explore the concept of empathy and putting themselves in others shoes and caring for others by learning the similar basic needs of both humans and animals. Overall themes: empathy and caring for pets. Worksheets provided.
  • FSPCA Presentation (k-12) – Abstract: In this lesson students are introduced to topics like what an adoption center is and what we do, shelter practices (spay or neuter, microchipping, etc.), empathy, and how they can practice kindness to animals. Overall themes: what an SPCA is, what we do, ways to be kind to animals, how to be a voice for animals. This lesson includes a virtual tour of the shelter! Worksheets provided.
  • Bite Prevention (k-5) – Abstract: In this lesson students are introduced to bite prevention and how to properly approach animals and read their behavior. The book “May I Pet your Dog?” by Stephanie Calmenson is read. Worksheets provided.
  • Storytime: A virtual presentation where a book is ready by our Education Coordinator alongside a shelter pet. Class can ask questions and discuss reading prompts.
  • Shelter Tour: You will receive a pre-recorded tour of the shelter. If requested, viewing can be followed by a virtual Q&A session that includes a shelter pet appearance.
